 | Since 1995, middle-school girls have come to Miss Porter’s School for summer programs. Fun, friendships with girls from around the country and the world, curiosity and confidence develop as girls explore the world from their home base in the historic town of Farmington, Connecticut. Daoyun Chinese Summer Program
For Girls entering grades 7-9

This new boarding program will immerse girls with little or no knowledge of the language in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing Chinese. Directed by Wen-Lin Su, an experienced Miss Porter’s School Chinese teacher, the program will also introduce girls to many aspects of Chinese culture

 Summer Challenge

Summer Challenge invites girls to determine “Who Dunnit?” Through the use of hands-on activities, students become the investigators of a mock crime. They learn the methods of forensic scientists and then use them to analyze physical evidence recovered from the crime scene.

Building on the leadership skills learned in the Sarah Porter Leadership Institute Level 1, students gain extensive leadership experience working as a team while spending two nights of camping away from the campus and engaging in community service projects.

 The Athletic Experience

The Athletic Experience provides a multi-sport experience for girls who want to learn new sports skills or develop their existing athletic talents. Girls choose three sports among basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, and volleyball. Sue Griffin, Athletic Director at Miss Porter’s School and Director of the Athletic Experience, has over 20 years experience introducing and teaching sports to young adults.

 Trailside Cross Country Program
For Girls Entering Grades 6-9

For more than 10 years, this running program has combined training and learning with fun. Runners train at Miss Porter’s School and nearby locations. Focused on the needs of the female runner, from the beginner to the veteran harrier, the program is an outstanding early season training experience, directed by Sue Griffin, Athletic Director at Miss Porter’s School and founder of Trailside, and Kelly Perkins, athletic trainer and Assistant Athletic Director at Miss Porter’s School.
