Summer Programs
Located in the center of Farmington, Connecticut, Porter’s is a college preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades 9 through 12. Founded in 1843 by life-long scholar and educator, Sarah Porter, our school’s innovative, rigorous, well-rounded approach to education prepares girls to expand their minds and grow into socially engaged, confident young women.

Our Summer Programs are designed to provide girls the opportunity to experience Porter's academic, artistic, athletic and residential curriculum and community. Led by members of Porter's faculty, the Sarah Porter Leadership Institute and Daoyun Chinese Summer Programs challenge girls to become engaged learners who communicate clearly and effectively. Girls thrive in our supportive and collaborative environment where curiosity and confidence are encouraged, and they complete their programs with a greater understanding of all they can accomplish as informed, bold, resourceful, ethical citizens. Porter's Summer Programs are for girls entering grades 7 through 10.
Daoyun Chinese Summer Program
Sunday, June 21 - Friday, July 17, 2009
Capacity: 12

This program will immerse girls with little or no knowledge of the language in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing Chinese. Directed by Wen-Lin Su, an experienced Miss Porter’s School Chinese teacher, the program will also introduce girls to many aspects of Chinese culture

Now in its sixth year, this program focuses on the knowledge, skills and resources girls need to exercise leadership in their schools, their communities and the larger world.

Building on the leadership skills learned in the Sarah Porter Leadership Institute Level 1, students gain extensive leadership experience working as a team while spending two nights of camping away from the campus and engaging in community service projects.
